Wofford 1 Carson Newmann 0

Wofford played their second and final pre-season game of 2009-2010 campaign last Monday night at Snyder Field. Wofford started off with a strong first 20 minutes of the game. After the first 20 minutes Carson Newman settled in and became more comfortable with the pace. In the 20th minute Kentrel Owen's received and through ball from Nick Schuermann down the right flank. The Junior from Charlotte, NC then turned the corner and played a ball across the box. On the other end of the cross was a diving Mac Gambill, Richmond, Va. The ball went to the back post off of Mac Gambill's diving header. Wofford 1 Carson Newmann 0. Later on in the half Kentrel Owens would look to tally the scoreboard for the second time in the game and did, but the he was ruled offsides and the goal was called back.
The second half was well played by both teams, with a solid defense from Wofford College. A couple of more chances for the Terriers but none of them to be realized. Wofford was called for offsides on two break aways and had another goal called back for a foul in the box before the goal was scored.
Thomas Hunter again played 60 minutes in the net for the Terriers and continued his streak of zero goals against, dating back 10/28/08 when he was scored on by Georgia Southern. Andrew Drennan played the last 30 in goal and did well in a challenge coming off his line against Omar Cooke saving an opportunity and holding on to the lead for Wofford College.
Wofford begins the regular season with a game against East Tennessee State at Johnson City. The game is on September 1st at 5pm. The Terriers look to make up for last year's 2-0 defeat to the Buccaneers which was played at Wofford.
